Your AIs
Every AI in Your Own AI is a character you author: a name, one of 18 personalities, a portrait, a description, and a way of speaking. They live on your machine, their memories are yours to read and edit, and no platform can change or retire them.
Creating an AI
Your AIs → Create New AI.
- Name and personality - pick from 18 archetypes (a caregiver, a sage, a joker, a rebel, an explorer...). The personality shapes how they speak and carry themselves.
- A face - generate or crop a portrait in the editor.
- Their mind - any offline model on your machine, an online model, or Auto to let routing pick per question.
- How they speak - response length from conversational to thorough, a default mode (chat, report, or code), and whether they use emojis.
What turns a personality into a character
Knowledge. Open an AI's Knowledge (in the editor, or the Memory page's Remembers tab) and give them what makes them them - their history, their quirks, their rules, the things they would say. An AI with ten good knowledge entries stops being a settings page and starts being someone.
See Memory and knowledge for how the layers fit together, and Import and export packs for sharing characters as single signed files - or adopting the eight free characters we publish.
Managing the crew
Pause an AI to hide it from the picker. Archive it to retire it while keeping every conversation and its signed records - restore anytime. Drag cards to reorder. Deleting permanently is a separate, deliberate step, and the app tells you exactly what it means before you do it.
