Memory
Your AIs learn who you are, keep a short living summary of you, and recall what you have done together. Memory in Your Own AI is two things: each AI has one memory of its own, and what every AI knows about you lives in one place - Your Memory. All of it stays on your device, all of it is visible, and every entry can be edited or deleted. Nothing is hidden from you - and nothing is sent anywhere.
That last sentence is the difference. Every major AI service now extracts facts about you and synthesizes them into a profile - and every one of them does that work on their servers, over your data, and keeps the result to itself. Your Own AI is the only one where the whole loop - learning, recalling, consolidating - runs on your own computer, and the only one that shows you the conclusion.
The two kinds
- Your Memory - the shared profile. Facts about you that all your AIs share, learned quietly from chats or added by you, each with where it came from - plus what your AIs are told about you, written privately on your device and shown on request.
- Each AI's memory - one list per AI, two kinds of entries: what you have given it and what it has learned with you. Kept for that AI alone.
Projects keep project notes too - conventions, decisions, context your working AIs share inside a project. Notes, not memory: they belong to the project, not to an AI.
Where a memory comes from
A memory here is not a line in a notes file. When one is created it points at the moment in your records it came from - this was learned because of this exchange - so an AI can ground what it recalls in your own recorded history, and you can trace any memory back to its source.
Remember anything, anywhere
- The Remember button under any reply.
- Highlight any text in a reply and remember just that.
- Choose the destination: one AI, all of them, or - in a project - the project itself.
- Remembering happens in the background: it never holds up the turn you are in.
The helper that does the work
Learning, recall and the summary run on a small optional helper model - two components the home page offers together from the second launch, private, removable in Settings › Storage. Without it, an AI still learns on the chat model that is running, but recalling earlier conversations by meaning is off.
What stays true, by construction
- Learning, recalling, and consolidating run on your device. Pausing memory pauses all of it.
- Every entry is visible, editable, and deletable - including the summary your AIs receive.
- Anything you told an AI directly can never be overwritten by something it merely inferred.
- All of it is encrypted in your records and survives your laptop.
